I recently invested heavily in a new operating Microscope. The picture here is not of me(!) but from the Zeiss website (i'm not that thin!). For anybody interested in more detail, the link to the website is http://www.meditec.zeiss.com/C1256CAB00599F5D/Contents-Frame/93210AA396A78DCC8825726C0000BFD5
the microscope obviously allows me to see what I'm doing in incredible detail. This is useful for:
- Catching decay really early - subtle changes in the tooth colour can be detected
- Checking for cracks under cusps of teeth - one major frustrating thing with placing fillings is when the tooth has cracks and the nerve refuses to settle down
- Looking for extra canals when carrying out root canal work - meaning that treatment is likely to be more long lasting
- Saving my back!
- Cleaning out decay under fillings, can find a lot more now!
- Cleaning root surfaces when performing gum surgery, leading to more precise and effective treatment.
- taking photos and videos of teeth to show problems to patients
a note to any dentist reading this. Get one! They are superb and you will not regret it!
