Nervous Patients Open Day coming soon

Are you really nervous about going to the Dentist?

Not sure if the Dental Practice is right for you?

Want to discuss your dental problems free of charge and not sitting in a dental chair?

Dr Rob Endicott and his team are holding an Open Day in May for patients to come and discuss with us in confidence any dental problems they may have. You will be able to have a no cost, no obligation chat with one of our team of highly trained and experienced Dentists, Hygienists and Nurses. If you are then keen to move to the next stage of a dental consultation, we can then book an appointment for you and discuss methods of anxiety control, like INTRAVENOUS SEDATION.

If you are scared of dentists and dental treatment then sitting in a dental chair is probably not the place to feel your most relaxed! Its very difficult to talk openly about your fears surrounded by the sights and smells of a dental surgery. Its difficult to know as well whether the dentist and their team are the right people for you. Often dental problems get left untreated and the time comes when toothache or infection starts to become a daily grind, with seemingly no way out.

With Intravenous sedation, dentistry can be a worry and pain free experience. You are relaxed in the chair and most of the time, you will not remember anything after the visit.

The open day will be held between 2pm and 7pm on the top floor of the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club building in Sovereign Harbour, right by the free Waterfront parking area.

If you would like to contact us, we can be reached at info@quay.tv or 01323 472772.

New Investment making Dentistry Better

I recently invested heavily in a new operating Microscope. The picture here is not of me(!) but from the Zeiss website (i'm not that thin!). For anybody interested in more detail, the link to the website is http://www.meditec.zeiss.com/C1256CAB00599F5D/Contents-Frame/93210AA396A78DCC8825726C0000BFD5

the microscope obviously allows me to see what I'm doing in incredible detail. This is useful for:
  • Catching decay really early - subtle changes in the tooth colour can be detected
  • Checking for cracks under cusps of teeth - one major frustrating thing with placing fillings is when the tooth has cracks and the nerve refuses to settle down
  • Looking for extra canals when carrying out root canal work - meaning that treatment is likely to be more long lasting
  • Saving my back!
  • Cleaning out decay under fillings, can find a lot more now!
  • Cleaning root surfaces when performing gum surgery, leading to more precise and effective treatment.
  • taking photos and videos of teeth to show problems to patients
a note to any dentist reading this. Get one! They are superb and you will not regret it!

Dental Sedation - easy Dentistry!

As of last month I got my final part of the training for Intravenous Dental Sedation. We havae been busy ever since making peoples lives easier!

If you or any friend or family is really nervous about dental treatment, the drill, injections, root canal fillings, all the things that get such bad press, then sedation makes the whole experience very relaxing indeed. Most people will then even forget about the session afterwards.

Lots can be accomplished in one visit. We have had patients in the chair for three hours or more and to them, it seemed about five minutes.

We really enjoy treating patients when they are relaxed and comfortable!!  Next time you are in and are interested in this relaxation technique. have a chat to me or any member of staff and we can tell you what's its all about.

Kat is getting married!

Some great news we have is that Kat (my long suffering dental nurse) is getting married next week. She is flying out to the Dominican Republic to marry a fantastic chap called Ben, on the beach! As you can expect, she has been getting rather excited over the last few weeks and has kept saying things like "two weeks to go, two days to go, two hours to go!!!!" and boasting that she is having three weeks off.

I am sure that you will join me in wishing her all the very best on her wedding day and for a wonderful life with Ben. He's a lucky guy.

E-Max All Porcelain Cosmetic Crown

We are working with a fantastic new metal free type of crown that is extremely strong and very natural looking at the same time.
Here's a nice case we did recently, replacing the crown on the upper left central incisor. The new crown blends in very nicely, the tip picks up the natural translucency of the tooth.

Award Winning!

Sovereign Harbour Dentist wins Top Award

Dr Rob Endicott at the Quayside Dental Practice and Facial Cosmetic Centre in Sovereign Harbour has won Dentistry Magazines South-East "Best Young Dentist" Award.

These annual regional awards launched by Dentistry Magazine have been created to recognise outstanding individuals, teams and practices who have an active interest in continuing professional development and staying at the top of the dental profession.

To enter, practices had to be nominated by patients and staff and then write to say why they deserved the award, backing up the entry with pictures, marketing materials and testimonials.
Battling against practices within the region ensured the entries were of an exceptionally high standard.

"We are so thrilled for Rob," said Katina Larmour, Practice nurse. "We have worked hard for four years to build this practice from an empty shop premises and we are very proud that Rob is getting recognised by the profession for the work we are doing here."

"It is great to know that we are doing things right and I particularly thank all my staff, without whom I would never be able to do my job." said Rob.

The judging panel consisted of top members of the profession including dentists, hygienists and practice managers who decided who is the best practice, best team and best young dentist in the region.

The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony in Leicester, hosted by TVs Roy Walker. Over 500 dentists, hygienists, receptionists and nurses attended, making this the largest annual dentistry event ever in the UK.
